Looking
For A
New
Meeting
Place –
The
Brook
Restaurant
for
August
Due to
planned
changes
at
Tally's
Cafe, we
are
looking
for a
new
locaton
for our
meetings.
Our
preference
would be
a
restaurant
with a
separate
meeting
room
that can
handle
up to 2
or 3
dozen
people,
and
centrally
located
in
Tulsa.
This
month we
are
giving
the The
Brook
Restaurant
at 34th
& Peoria
a “test
drive.”
I
personally
checked
out the
meeting
room,
and
thought
it was
worth a
try to
see if
it is a
good
fit. I
do have
some
concerns
about
this
location,
but I
did not
want to
be the
only one
to
decide,
so the
only way
to get
feedback
from
members
was to
go ahead
and have
this
month’s
meeting
there.
If it
doesn’t
work
out, we
will
keep
looking...
The new
location
does not
have to
be an
eatin'
place,
and if
not, it
should
be close
to at
least
one good
restaurant.
If
anyone
knows of
a
suitable
location,
please
contact
me or
any TRO
officer
with
details.
#####
What's
On The
Program?
In order
to make
our
meetings
more
fun,
interesting,
and
useful
for our
members,
the
Executive
Committee
has
decided
to get
back to
having
programs
every
month.
But we
need
your
help.
Do you
have an
idea for
a
program?
If so,
let us
know!
Are your
curious
about
some
aspect
of ham
radio,
and
would
like to
see a
program
on the
topic?
Let us
know!
You
don't
have to
put on
the
program,
but if
you are
able and
willing
to do
so, that
would be
great!
Just
tell us
your
idea,
and we
will
work on
putting
it
together.
The
programs
don't
have to
be about
ham
radio.
Hams
tend to
be
technical
people,
so
anything
technical
or
scientific
will do.
By the
way, we
used to
tour a
TV or
broadcast
radio
station,
or the
Tulsa
EOC, or
the NWS
Office
once a
year,
but we
haven't
done
that in
about a
decade.
Let us
know if
you
would
like to
go on
such a
tour,
and
where.
Send you
ideas to
TRO Vice
President
Paul
Young at
ke5ehm@tulsahamradio.org.

The New
.88 Is
In
Place!
Normally,
I
reserve
this
publication
for
announcements
of
upcoming
events
and
activities,
and
exclude
other
kinds of
news.
However,
a recent
event
does
require
that I
direct
your
attention
to its
outcome.
The new
146.880
repeater
is now
in place
at
Cityplex!
If you
haven’t
used or
listened
to it in
a while,
you
might
reconsider
doing
so.
The
major
change
that
most
need to
know
about is
the
change
in
PL’s.
The
Cityplex
receiver
now
responds
to 88.5,
and
141.3
has been
reassigned
to the
Keetonville
receiver.
The PL
for the
Skiatook
receiver
remains
at
82.5.
The
transmitter
also
outputs
an 88.5
tone.
The new
repeater
is a
Kenwood,
so you
will
notice a
major
improvement
in the
audio.
The old
DVR is
gone,
replaced
by a new
Synthesized
Voice
Announcer,
and few
standardized
voice
messages.
Look for
a more
complete
report
in The
Signal,
but for
now I
will say
a great
big
THANK
YOU and
FINE
BUSINESS
to
Merlin
Griffin,
WB5OSM,
Bob
Buford,
W5RAB,
and Joe
Gorkos,
N5TEX,
for all
your
efforts
on the
new
repeater
project
and
repeater
maintenance!
Come to
the
meeting
at The
Brook
Restaurant,
for a
presentation
by Joe
Gorkos,
N5TEX,
with
Before
and
After
pictures,
for a
closer
look at
the
project.
